The United Kingdom has four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Summer is the second season of the year in England. It follows spring and comes before autumn.

In summer, the sun rises early in the morning and sets late at night. Summer weather is mostly good, and many days are hot and sunny. The grass grows tall and flowers bloom.

In the UK, schools close for six weeks in July and August and children have a long summer holiday. They go back to school at the start of September, when the autumn term begins.
